The main difference between those who are successful in achieving their fitness goals and those who are not boils down to who is simply more motivated. With fitness, it is not really about the daily fitness routine you are practicing, the gym equipment available to you, or the type of diet you currently have. Although these have their benefits, and choosing the right type and combination will help you in your journey toward a fitter life, the reality remains that if the mind is not willing then the body will follow suit. The first thing that needs revamping is the attitude. People need to remind themselves of the reasons that they workout…instead of finding excuses not to. Write these down and place the list somewhere it can be easily seen.
The second thing they need to is to start small. As if the first tip wasn’t hard enough. Thinking small for many is difficult because have this fantasy that the transformation will happen in relatively short period of time. This is simply is unrealistic. A realistic goal would be 10-15 pounds in four weeks. Another realistic goal would be to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Starting small gives a person time to get used to a fitness daily routine, and once the routine has been established, the person can move up to more loftier goals.
Another way to stay motivated is to employ soft love and tough love. Soft love refers to a fitness rewards program. Again, honesty plays a very crucial role for this to be successful. The idea here is to give fitness rewards for being able to accomplish short-term goals. Using this reward system is a simple way to keep motivation.
In contrast, tough love refers to the opposite of a fitness rewards program. If a person is not able to achieve his or her goals then that individual should not be given a reward. Tough love can also come from a friend, partner, relative or even a pet. In this sense, tough love from a fitness partner comes in the form of unending reminders that one needs to work out. The journey toward fitness is not a lonely road, and definitely not a silent one.
Now, this article will not transform a person overnight. Nonetheless, it can help guide you on how to stay motivated to workout. The reason why a person loses motivation differs from person to person; however, it is still up to you if you are willing to change.
